With
the success that the Goldilocks Cake Deco Expo has enjoyed for the past three
years, this year’s installment raised the bar even higher. The recently
concluded 4th Goldilocks Cake Deco expo was once again held at the SMX
Convention Center at the SM Mall of Asia, and featured swirls of learning and
fun activities that delighted pastry enthusiasts and professionals alike.
The
theme of this year’s Cake Deco Expo was “Let Your Imagination Fly!”, and the
country’s number one bakeshop certainly made it conducive to do so. There were
numerous hands-on demonstrations by top pastry-chefs, an arts and crafts area,
interactive workshops, a Goldilocks decorate-your-cake (DYC) corner, cake
displays, and an amazing “Fly for Hope” booth.
The
highlight of the event was the 8th Goldilocks Intercollegiate Cake Decorating
Challenge, where 10 schools from all over the Philippines competed live on a
kitchen stage. Each team decorated two different cakes (using 100 cupcakes) under
a time limit in front of a live audience, without prior knowledge of the cake
themes and/or decorating parameters.
The
finalists this year were Centro Escolar University Manila, La Consolacion
College Bacolod, Lipa City Colleges, Lyceum of the Philippines Batangas, Lyceum
of the Philippines Laguna, St. Anne Lucena Inc., St Louis College Valenzuela,
STI Fairview, University of the East Manila, and eventual overall champion Western
Institute of Technology Iloilo.
